Full Groom – a brush out, ear clean, nail clip, wash, condition, and facial scrub. Afterwards, your dog is hand dried (never cage dried), clipped and styled as requested. If your dog is a high shedding breed, we will use a welfare-friendly de-shed treatment to help with excess moulting.

Prices Valid From March 1st 2024

Due to ever-increasing costs in grooming supplies, utilities and staff costs, we sadly have to intrude a price increase which will come into effect on March 1st 2024. This is our first price increase in 4 years in grooming. If you have any questions or concerns, please call one of our team on 019013018 or Contact Us via the website.

If your dog breed is not listed, please ask one of our team, and we will advise—all prices include vat. The condition of your dog’s coat and behaviour when being groomed may affect grooming costs. Please talk through all grooming requirements with your groomer on arrival.

To guarantee a grooming appointment and avoid disappointment we ask that you book in advance by one of the following ways:

A Note from Our Grooming Team

Usually when you drop your dog in for a groom we would meet with you and discuss how your dog coat will be clipped/styles and flag any problems to you like matting or tangles. Due to the current restrictions this is not possible, so while we will endeavour to groom your dog in his/her usual style please be aware that is this is not possible due to matting your dog will need to be clipped short this time.

While this may not be your preference, we are groomers, have strict welfare guidelines to adhere to. Your dogs comfort & safety comes before everything else so we will not be dematting tails, ears etc. as this can be extremely uncomfortable for them.

Most dogs will be way overdue a groom due to this pandemic, which is not your fault, but it is also not our fault or your dogs fault. Please understand we will always so what is best for your dogs welfare and that it is hair and it will grow back.

To keep you up to date on your dog, Positive Dog Training does posts photographs on their social media pages. If you do not wish for us to take pics of your dog and post digitally, please let us know.

Dog Grooming

We will be operating very strict drop-off and collection times due to the extra care we will be taking to ensure the grooming room and all the equipment is sterilised fully after each dog has been groomed. Please arrive on time for your designated appointment and you must be available to collect your dog when we call you.

Communication with our grooming team for the first few weeks we are open will be by phone only. A designated person will be working in reception to bring in and return your dog to you.

Due to the almost 3 months, we have been closed, styles will be modified if your dogs’ coat is matted. It is possible we may need to shave down your dog, for their own comfort and if that is the case one of the grooming team will contact you by phone to advise.

Due to the new systems being put in place and the clients that we are trying to accommodate for grooming in the next few weeks, 24 notice is required if you wish to cancel an appointment. Failure to contact us in advance of not being able/no longer needing your appointment will result in you being removed from our system and further requests for an appointment being refused.

We all know how nice it is to be pampered and how wonderful we feel after a few hours at the Salon or Spa, well the same goes for your dog!

We offer a full range of grooming packages from our purpose built grooming room. With over 20 years combined grooming experience behind us you can be guaranteed we will treat your dog with the love and care it deserves.

These are the terms for which a dog can be accepted to Positive Dog Training for grooming:

  1. Under the Animal Health & Welfare Act a dog must protected from pain, suffering, injury and disease. Positive Dog Training do not offer a demitting service. As a pet dog owner it is your responsibility to keep your dogs coat is good condition in between grooming. If you dogs coat is matted we will have to clip it off and start again. I, the owner, grant permission for matted hair to be shaved off to prevent pain. We are happy to work with clients to have their dogs on  regulate schedule
  2. A dogs safety and the safety of our team are of the highest importance at Positive Dog Training. We reserve the right to refuse service to a dog if we deem their behaviour to pose a risk to themselves or our team.
  3. The dog is vaccinated and up to date. An unvaccinated dog puts itself and others at risk.
  4. Payment will be made on collection of dog.
  5. As the customer I agree to my dogs photograph being taken and it being used on the PDT website/social media and for any marketing purposes.

Matted coats can cause a variety of skin & health problems. Matted fur does not allow for air circulation to the skin, causing hot spots, bacterial and fungal infections. Fleas, ticks, maggots and other parasites may be lurking in the coat causing further skin infections. Matted fur also pulls and binds, causing pain to your pet when they move or lay on mats. The skin underneath is usually raw and inflamed. Matted coats will not dry properly and can lead to rotting fur and skin.

Due to matting, your dog’s hair may need to be shaved extremely short to the skin and may show signs of skin irritations and sores due to matting, wet undercoat and dirty coat. In order to take care of a dog that has not been groomed often enough, and is matted, the required grooming sessions may be long, stressful, or painful (please note, more than 1 grooming session may be required if your dog is severely matted).

It is the goal of Positive Dog Training to make your pet’s grooming experience as stress free as possible. Due to the condition of your dog, PDT has determined that the only humane thing to do is to shave the dog’s coat down. This is a short clip, removing all the matting. Where feasible, we work to de-mat/brush out the dog’s coat, but only when it would not cause excessive pain and suffering to attempt to do so.

There is a strong chance that your pet’s skin will become irritated during the clipping process. We will use a medicated shampoo to help sooth any irritation that may occur. The matted hair rests tightly against the skin – the only way of removing mats is to use a short blade to clip between the skin and mats. Your dog may be nicked and cut because the groomer has to work so closely to the skin to remove the matted coat.

PDT will be happy to show you how to care for your pet’s coat so that matting does not recur.
